Month One

Sweetie boy is a month old and I can't believe his appetite. The doctor says most babies gain 10-25 grams per day, and he has been trending 38! He is going to be big and strong like his dad!
After I came home from the hospital, I was so lucky to have my mom stay for another week! She was such a great help, especially with Olive. They went on many walks and a tea party or two.

I was really perturbed that Lorenzo wasn't circumcised at the hospital. The nurses said they wanted to wait 24 hours until a doctor had checked him (which made sense, I suppose) but a doctor saw him at about 12 hours (and he was fit as a fiddle). My doctor came around at about 20 hours and was willing to do the circumcision but the nurses kept insisting on the 24-hour thing. I was checking out the next morning, but they insisted it would be done before I left.
Well, the next morning came and they said my doctor would not be in until late afternoon and may not even be able to do it then depending on how busy a day it was. I was really mad and had no choice but to schedule it--a week away. I was so annoyed!
A week later, we went in, and it was a very hard day for both me and Lorenzo. I waited in the lobby with a bottle ready. When they brought him out, I tried to feed him but he kept spitting out the bottle to cry. My normally-sweet baby boy was clearly in a lot of pain and it was just too much for me. I think I was a wreck that whole day.
Much to my surprise, he was much recovered the next day and his smiles were back.
His umbilical cord had fallen off by then, but now I had to postpone giving him a real bath for another week or so. Thankfully, time goes by quickly, and we got our chance to begin bath time in the sink.

Most people ask how Olive has adjusted. Luckily, he is such a good baby, that he doesn't steal too much attention away from her. She loves him, though she doesn't know what to do with him. She'll give him a kiss if we ask, but moves away if I try to photograph them together.

One last photo, I got a chuckle out of Kevin impersonating Lorenzo and his crazy newborn eyes! I think they are twins.

  1. I was showing Adam the pictures of Olive & Lorenzo and he said, "They come to Disneyworld with me, please, please, please?"
